As per the NIMH report, the occurrence of obsessive-compulsive disorder was estimated to be 1.2% in US adults aged 18 and up. OCD occurrence rates were estimated to be higher among females (1.9%) than males (0.6%). Nearly more than 50% of adults with OCD encounter serious illness.
